I attended the Sutherland Shire council meeting last night and found it to be a rather interesting evening. It was all a pretty standard debate until councillor Blight made mention of the recent “poison pen letter” mentioned in the papers recently, this drew some bemused responses. However the highlight of the meeting was when Liberal councillor Simpson put forward a procedural motion that all councillors run an honest and forthright election campaign. Sadly for councillor Simpson, councillors Kelly (Shire Watch) and McDonnell (Shire Watch) raised issues with the previous and current Liberal electoral material, alleging it contained misleading information including draft monetary figures.
