Are all Muslims liars? Susan Carland tries the old “bad translation” dodge on ABC’s “Q and A” program.
ANDREW BOLT: He’s invited you and your husband and, you know, Miss Australia and people like that, but he doesn’t do it with Buddhists. There’s specifically something in the community itself, as well, and I think, to be honest, you mentioned this yourself in an interview with the Malaysian Star Newspaper only a couple of years ago, where you said within the community, being a new convert from Christianity, you face the calls, from within the community, you shouldn’t do this and you shouldn’t do that and you shouldn’t make friends with people who weren’t Muslim and you should withdraw from society and everything that was haram and you said this was a problem for you and I think that’s an acknowledgement there is, in fact, a problem within the Muslim community, a rejectionist strand, which is what makes this different. And I hate to be blunt, I hate to foster – you know, have all these people jeering…
SUSAN CARLAND: No, you don’t. No, you don’t.
TONY JONES: Okay.
ANDREW BOLT: Yes, I do. I do. I’d rather you agreed with me.
TONY JONES: Quick responses.
SUSAN CARLAND: The quick response would be absolutely there are people, a very small minority of people, within the Muslim community that are reluctant to engage with the wider community, but this is more…
ANDREW BOLT: You put it as a majority in this interview and, excuse me, I just read it again.
SUSAN CARLAND: I said the majority of Muslims reject friendships with…well, I’m afraid that that…
ANDREW BOLT: You did.
SUSAN CARLAND: Well, I’m afraid that’s just not correct.
ANDREW BOLT: Well, you said it there and you…
SUSAN CARLAND: Maybe your translation from the Malay is not…
ANDREW BOLT: It was an English language newspaper.
Susan was saved from further embarrassment by Greg Hunt butting in, thanks Greg, what a guy. What Susan was practicing is known as Taqiyya or lying in defence of Islam -
The word “Taqiyya” literally means: “Concealing, precaution, guarding.” It is employed in disguising one’s beliefs, intentions, convictions, ideas, feelings, opinions or strategies. In practical terms it is manifested as dissimulation, lying, deceiving, vexing and confounding with the intention of deflecting attention, foiling or pre-emptive blocking. It is currently employed in fending off and neutralising any criticism of Islam or Muslims.
Falsehoods told to prevent the denigration of Islam, to protect oneself, or to promote the cause of Islam are sanctioned in the Qur’an and Sunna, including lying under oath in testimony before a court, deceiving by making distorted statements to the media such as the claim that Islam is a “religion of peace”. A Muslim is even permitted to deny or denounce his faith if, in so doing, he protects or furthers the interests of Islam, so long as he remains faithful to Islam in his heart.
Islam Watch.
Susan is of course a good Muslim by following after the character of Mohammad. In Islam, Mohammad is seen as the perfect man (al-insanu ‘l-kamil) and is considered the exemplary standard in human behaviour, so the more a Muslim is like him, the better off he or she will be. Since Mohammad permitted lying, then it is morally correct within Islam to lie:
Bukhari – Volume 4, Book 52, Number 271:
Narrated Jabir:
The Prophet said, “Who is ready to kill Ka’b bin Ashraf (i.e. a Jew).” Muhammad bin Maslama replied, “Do you like me to kill him?” The Prophet replied in the affirmative. Muhammad bin Maslama said, “Then allow me to say what I like.” The Prophet replied, “I do (i.e. allow you).”
So by lying and denying what she said, Susan was only being an upstanding Muslim.

This is just codswallop. Taqiyya is permitted when saving one’s life or self from torture and such. Lying in general is considered to be one of the great sins. But then your mates on Jihad watch are where I go for rulings on Islamic law because they are so accurate. Try quoting a Hanafi or Shafi’i scholar of some standing if you want genuine evidence to back up your ludicrous contentions, that effectively amount to lying. What did Jesus tell us about lies?
You just can’t walk a straight line can you Darrin? I say to you: Malus Christianus tradit Christos?
By the way her surname is Carland.
“Lying in general is considered to be one of the great sins”
Really, so Susan committed a great sin then?
“You just can’t walk a straight line can you Darrin? I say to you: Malus Christianus tradit Christos?”
Sadly for Islam, it can’t blame humans for its wicked inheritance.
I don’t know whether Susan lied or not, but if she did, the answer would be yes. There are other explanations like having a faulty memory.
Let me translate for you Darrin, “Does the wicked Christian betray Christ?” ie: like Judas do you personally betray Jesus? You may not hand him over to the Romans and Sanhedrin but you betray everything he ever came to teach, unless you belong to some heretical sect, which I presume you don’t feel would be true.
Muslims in proportions seem to lie alot. Including the baby butcher who made up all these stories about whitey conspiracy.
A lie eh? Like claiming you were never a member of Stormfront?
