City of Sydney council buys gay vote in cheap and nasty election stunt.
According to The Australian, Sydney city council under the watch of Clover Moore has voted to institute “homophobia free zones”. These zones would include Oxford St, parts of Darlinghurst, King St, Newtown and Erskineville rd, Erskineville. The recently passed vote would allow the council to revoke late-night trading permits if staff or patrons of a venue commit homophobic abuse. Does this mean we can have “Muslim free zones” or “Asian free zones”? …. I thought not. It’s amazing how certain types of discrimination are given open slather.
The vote, that passed by one vote and only because councillor Shane Mallard was the only gay that dissented. He claimed the whole thing was a “PR stunt” as it only involved the distribution of “t-shirts and stickers”. Mr Mallard thinks the council should use ratepayers money to provide security guards as well.
To ensure that similar wastes of ratepayers money does not occur in the Sutherland council, vote 1 Darrin Hodges. Ratepayers money should not be spent on buying votes, it should be spent on providing services that benefit the entire community, not merely small sections of it because the council is run by members of said minority.

“Does this mean we can have “Muslim free zones” or “Asian free zones”? …. I thought not. It’s amazing how certain types of discrimination are given open slather.”
Are you serious Darrin? Are you deliberately misinterpreting this? No form of discrimination is being given open slather - in fact its the exact opposite. The plan is to stop discrimination - against homosexuals.
Well obviously if you had a Muslim free zone for example, then there would be no Muslims therein whom could suffer from discrimination.
And is it better to have a homosexual free zone and police it as such, or just to do the right thing and not allow people to discriminate against others on the basis of sexuality, Darrin? A homosexual free zone would be a form of discrimination.
Your suggestion is tandamount to advocating “physical disability free zones” instead of teaching people not to victimize people in wheelchairs. A physical disability free zone would be a form of discrimination.
Again: contrary to what you stated, there is no form of discrimination being given open slather in the proposal - it is the exact opposite.
You are the one advocating discrimination, you idiot.
